Another Centrix Innovation, Tempit Temporary Filing Materials

Four unique temporary filling materials, one delivery system.

In February of 1984, Dr. Dragan addressed the challenges dental professionals were facing with temporary restoration materials by releasing Tempit® to the market. The frustration of messy applications, caused by mixing and spatulation, was replaced with the ease of a pre-filled tip that snapped directly into Centrix C/R guns for easy, precise applications.

Just as permanent restorations demand specific materials for different needs, temporary restorations also have different requirements, demanding the right material for each case. Centrix offers four specific and proven temporary filling material formulas, providing optimal results in any clinical situation. Each formula is unit-dose to eliminate wasted product. The material is applied directly into the prep without the need for mixing, spatulation, squeeze tubes or jars riddled with the risk of cross-contamination.

Tempit is a moisture-activated formula ideal for endo access openings and short-term temporaries. Tempit sets in 5 minutes or less and expands slightly to seal out microleakage and bacterial ingress. Building off the solid foundation and success of Tempit, Centrix went on to develop an entire Tempit line of products!

Tempit L/C is light-activated, sets in a matter of seconds, under 40 to be precise, and requires no etching or bonding agents. It sets firm yet still flexible and is easy to remove with an explorer, rather than a bur, keeping the margins intact. Tempit L/C is perfect for indirect restorations (inlays/onlays), sealing implant screw access openings, and covering sharp orthodontic brackets.

Tempit Ultra-F is a rigid hard-wearing material perfect for tooth-colored restorations in deciduous teeth and longer-term temporaries. It too is light-activated and sets in under 40 seconds. This micro-filled polymer resin offers high compressive strength for bruxism patients and is less soluble than reinforced ZOE intermediate restorative materials. It is also available in a formula without Fluoride, called Tempit Ultra.

Tempit-E joined the family 36 years later, in 2020, rounding off the temporization line of products. Also packaged in unit-dose tips for use with the CR-Guns, Tempit-E adds Eugenol to the mix, and eliminates the dreaded mixing of IRM! (Hey, better late than never!) Tempit-E, like original Tempit, is moisture-activated and uses the same expanding technique to seal out microleakage and bacterial ingress. The palliative eugenol formulation gives it a sedative quality which calms hypersensitive pulp making it ideal in cases of reversible pulpal inflammation. Tempit-E offers anti-inflammatory and local anesthetic effects to assist in facilitating pulpal healing.

With continuous efforts to create new products and technologies, such as the Tempit family, that address the challenges dental professionals face, Centrix continues to dedicate their efforts to Making Dentistry (and Temporization) Easier!
