INDUSTRY FIRST! Centrix invents the Dental Composite Syringe

Everyone has an idea or a dream; not everyone has the courage to pursue it. Dr. Dragan set himself apart by paying attention to the problems that fellow dentists were facing and then designing the solution. In 1968, while noting the challenges of mixing and placing two-part materials that were becoming more viscous, therefore, harder to spatulate and apply, he began his venture to develop a simple push syringe.

In 1970, the AccuDose® Tube and the Mark I™ Syringe debuted as the first direct-to-the-prep delivery system for dental materials. Now a dentist could spatulate the materials, backfill into the AccuDose Tube, place in the Mark I Syringe and inject into the bottom of the prep: allowing for a complete fill while eliminating trapped air and dripping of materials. This invention changed dentistry. Today almost every composite and paste are packed in tubes modeled after the Centrix design and are used every minute of every day, everywhere around the world.

Since the initial design, six additional C-R Syringe and gun models have been released. The original stainless-steel barrel has evolved to a more ergonomic plastic and snap-fit technology for easier loading and a 4X increase in expression drive force, making application dramatically easier.

Dr. Dragan didn’t stop at just the syringe; he continued to develop eight different tubes, including the first needle tubes, to use in conjunction with his syringes for the most effective, efficient and accurate application possible. These inventions have stood the test of time and many are still used frequently today.

Dr. Dragan and Centrix have introduced many advancements and dental ‘firsts’ in the past 50 years, dedicated to our mission of Making Dentistry Easier. Dr. Dragan’s courage to take an idea, perfect it, and deliver it to his profession has forever changed the field of dentistry!

Everyone has a dream. Ours was Making Dentistry Easier.
